Katie and her Cousins

The complete story of the oldest engine in the Railway Museum, C1, also affectionately known as 'Katie'.
C1 and C2 were built in 1880 specifically for the opening of the Fremantle-Perth-Guildford railway, by the famous firm of Robert Stephenson & Son. But when traffic demands boomed after the 1890s gold rush, she soon proved too small for the main line but went on to a long life working in the timber forests.

The book also explains how 'Katie' was a copy of locomotives already built for New Zealand, where one has been restored and operates today.
